Recently, the first Halal Food Trade Certification Center-Ningxia Halal Food International Trade Certification Center was officially set up in Yinchuan. The exported and imported halal food will be added with the words "NINGXIA HALAL FOOD CERCIFICATION".

Now, the population of Muslims is 1.5 billion worldwide, which accounts for 25% of the global population. The development prospect of halal industries is vast, as the annual turnovers of halal food reach 150 billion dollars.

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is referred to as the 'Muslim Province in China'. However, the 'Halal' certification had always been an obstruction for the development and export of halal enterprises and food in Ningxia.

The Ningxia Halal Food International Trade Certification Center was approved to set up by Ningxia Government in January, 2008. After 5 years' practice and efforts, the center has signed cooperation agreements with 11 agencies from 9 countries to formulate the certificated standards. It also reached a consensus of Five-province Alliance with Shaanxi, Yunnan, Gansu and Qinghai.

The main responsibilities of the center are to push forward the development of halal industries, coordinate the relevant departments and take charge of international trade certification.
