According to the list of 2014 National Ecotourism Demonstrative Area published by the National Tourism Administration, Sand Lake Scenic Spot of Ningxia is enlisted.

The list was issued originally in 2001 by the National Tourism Administration, SDPC and the National Environment Protection Bureau through application, evaluation, acceptance check, announcement, approval and reexamination.

Sand Lake Scenic Spot has adhered to the policy of ‘environmental protection, biological resource recovery and natural resource utilization’ to create more ecological and economical benefits and realize the sustainable development.
