We will actively adapt to the new normal and lay more emphasis on quality and efficiency of economic development in Ningxia, said Liu Hui, an NPC deputy and the president of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, during a panel discussion of the 3rd session of the 12th National People’s Congress.

We will readjust the economic structure in the development process, she said. Ningxia will accelerate the construction of a large coal-to-oil project, the electricity transmission from Ningxia to Zhejiang Province and the ecological textile park this year, she illustrated. Ningxia will also readjust the industrial structure, phase out energy guzzling industries and make more earnest efforts to protect the environment, she added. Ningxia will deepen reforms on key sectors, keep on streamlining administration and advance financial and tax system reforms, she said. Ningxia will also enhance opening up scale taking advantage of the platform of China-Arab States Expo, she mentioned. Ningxia will also strengthen law-based governance and try to improve people’s livelihood in an all around way.

Being an NPC deputy, Liu suggested that the state should give more support to infrastructure construction in western China, such as transportation and water conservancy projects. With regard to the One Belt and One Road initiative, she suggested that each province should coordinate the efforts in functional orientation, project landscape and policy making to realize common development.
