Approved by the Ministry of Education, Ningxia Wine and Desertification of Career Technical College was formally established on June 29, which is the country's first top-grade technical college focusing on the grape and wine major.

The new college, based on the former Ningxia Desertification of Career Technical College founded in 2010, added five higher vocational majors and four secondary vocational majors that are relevant to wine including gardening techniques (wines direction), grape and wine engineering, wine production and marketing and so on. The newly-added majors would recruit students since this autumn.

In recent years, Ningxia has made the most of the superior geographical and climatic conditions of Helan Mountain to develop the grape and wine industry, and strives to make it a world-class wine region and a unique cultural tourism corridor.

According to the president of the college, Yu Feng, renaming the college is a need for adjusting to industrial restructuring and accelerating the development of the region's grape and wine industry chain. And it will contribute to promote the combination of education and production as well as the ability of the professional wine education to serve the wine industry.
