The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region aims to step up the Chinese wolfberry industry in the next five years, according to a themed plan released on January 27. By 2020, the planting area of Chinese wolfberry across the whole region is expected to total 66667 hectares, with the total output value surpassing 30 billion yuan.
The plan points out that the productivity and competitiveness need to be enhanced so as to promote the green, standardized, ecological, modernized and international development of the industry. Being the distinctive and most competitive industry in Ningxia, the Chinese wolfberry needs to accelerate upgrading and realize diversification to get more involved in international competition, said Liu Hui, the chairperson of the Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
