The sales of wine produced at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region totaled 1.4 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year, up by 15 percent year on year, according to official figures released on May 3.
Due to the downward economic pressure and the surge of wine production worldwide, the sales of wine produced in Ningxia plummeted last year. Against the severe backdrop, Ningxia released a series of preferential policies to help chateaus expand market. Through holding promotional activities in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, innovating business models and adjusting product structure, chateaus in Ningxia harvested great achievements this year.
“We sold 10,000 bottles of wine online in two months,” said Shao Qingsong, the general manager of Lilan Chateau in Ningxia. “The wine sales grew by 200 percent year on year,” said Ma Yongming, the general manager of China Oil and Food Import and Export Corporation Great Wall (Ningxia) Wine Limited Company. The sale of wine at Leirenshou Chateau surpassed 180,000 bottles in the first quarter of this year, up by 25 percent year on year.
