The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China plans to invest 10 billion yuan in constructing 5000 kilometers of highways in rural areas during the next five years, according to Ningxia Transport Department on June 14. The rural highway mileage open to traffic across Ningxia is expected to total 28,000 kilometers by 2020.
In 2016, Ningxia will invest 600 million yuan in constructing 1,000 kilometers of highways in rural areas, especially in the Liupan Mountain. Some sharp turns, abrupt slopes, embankments and other geological hazards in provincial roads of Line 101 and 103 will also be addressed at the same time, the spokesperson said.
