The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region received 210 million tourists in 2016 with the tourism revenue totaling 20.5 billion yuan, up by 14.39 percent and 28 percent respectively year on year, according to a meeting commemorating the 30th anniversary of tourism reform in Ningxia on Dec. 30. The tourism industry has now become one of the pillar industries in Ningxia.

The tourism industry has made great stride over the past thirty years and Ningxia was approved to be the second all-region tourism demonstration province across China in 2016, according to the meeting.

Right now the Ningxia All-region Tourism Development Plan is being compiled and Ningxia plans to construct ten distinctive tourism blocks, ten elite tourism sites, ten tourism shopping malls and foster top ten travel agencies and 100,000 tourism personnel within three years, the meeting noted.
