Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie met with his Thai counterpart Prawit Wongsuwan in Beijing on Sunday, during which both sides agreed to boost military exchanges.

Hailing sound military-to-military cooperation, Liang said China stood ready to promote bilateral military ties and strategic cooperation generally.

China appreciated the Thai government's long-term understanding and support on issues concerning China's core interests, Liang told Prawit.

Liang said as friendly neighbors, China and Thailand maintained fruitful cooperation in various areas and good coordination in major international and regional issues.

Prawit said his country was willing to strengthen exchanges and work closer with China in defense and security issues to boost the bilateral relationship.
