Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bali, Indonesia on Oct. 7, 2013.

Xi said China and Russia share a wide range of common interests in the Asia-Pacific region and China would like to work with Russia to guarantee security and stability in the region.

The Chinese leader also hailed 2013 as a fruitful year for China-Russia relations, noting that a host of accomplishments have been achieved in such areas as practical cooperation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and the handling of international affairs.

Putin said that Russia-China relations enjoy sound momentum with frequent leadership visits and ever-growing trade cooperation in addition to cultural and military exchanges.

Both sides have also maintained effective coordination on major international and regional issues, he added.

Noting that Russia-China relations enjoy broad prospects, Putin said he is ready to maintain close friendship and discourse with Xi to advance practical cooperation in various fields, including energy and infrastructure.

During their talks, the two leaders also agreed to hold joint activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II in 2015.
