Guangsha Holdings Group was formerly a small construction firm founded in 1973 in Dongyang County, Zhejiang Province. Guangsha branched out from its roots in real estate and construction to various areas, including energy, banking, medical care, education and hospitality. The company has more than 100 subsidiaries across the country with a total of 100,000 employees. Its subsidiary, Zhejiang Guangsha Co.,Ltd., became the first construction corporation in China to go public in 1997. The total assets of Guangsha reached 26 billion yuan (US$4.1 billion) and is ranked 152nd among the top 500 Chinese companies in 2012.
