Vanke, China's largest residential property developer, was founded in 1984. Headquartered in Shenzhen, the company's core business is the development of mass-market residential properties. It's also involved in property management, construction research, and investment and consultancy activities. Vanke was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 1991. By the end of 2011, Vanke's total assets hit 296.2 billion yuan (US$47 billion). Its revenue and net profits for 2011 reached 71.8 billion yuan (US$11.4 billion) and 9.6 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion) respectively, rising 41.5 percent and 32.2 percent over 2010. Vanke was ranked 431st on Forbes' Global 2000 list in 2012.
