Beigong Forest Park definitely offers a lot of bang for the buck, with peak season prices being a very reasonable ten yuan. The park has officially been ranked as a 4A tourist attraction in China (5A is the highest), and it does serve as an exemplary park in terms of its crafting and its heights. Not everyone will be enthralled with the industrial views from the top, but that's an experience of reality in Beijing that shouldn't surprise anyone.
Entrance fee: 10 yuan
Getting to Beigong Forest Park (Beigong Senlin Gongyuan (北宫森林公园):
From Gucheng subway station (line 1) take bus #38 from the south side of the road. Get off at Beigong Senlin Gongyuan station, the 17th stop. From the bus stop, you must walk about 15 minutes up the road, or take the shuttle bus for 5 yuan. Total travel time from downtown: 2 hours.
