Jilin Province boasts the magnificent scenery of Changbai Mountain, which is the boundary mountain between China and North Korea. It is the source of the Songhua, Tumen and Yalu Rivers and also the birthplace of the Manchu people. Heaven Lake, or Lake Tianchi in Chinese, lying partly in the Changbai Mountain range and partly in North Korea, is a grand crater lake on top of a dormant volcano. The lake is renowned for its clear blue color in summer and snow capped white in winter. Due to its grandness and remoteness, the lake has countless myths and legends. Over the years, artworks such as the Lake Tianchi Monsters and the Grave Robbers' Chronicles have attracted more tourists to visit the glamorous wonderland.

Jilin City, the second largest city in Jilin Province, is famous for its distinctive rime scenery. It is said that rime in Jilin, mountain and water in Guilin, Yangtze River gorges and the stone forest in Yunnan are the Four Natural Wonders in China. According to Wikipedia, rime forms when water droplets in fog freeze to the outer surfaces of objects, such as trees. As Jilin City has a hydropower station and many trees nearby, there is a high volume of rime formation. However, local people mention that sometimes it's not always possible to witness it, and visitors may not encounter it even during a three-day stay.
