During the long period of winter, mountains, fields, cottages, willows in rural areas are covered with thick snow to form a silvery fairyland. The Laobai Mountain Snow Village, located in Dunhua City, Jilin Province, is a good place to experience the amazing scenery. The smoke curling up from chimneys over the cottages, rolling hills in the distance, and white capped cottages with red lanterns bring visitors to a miraculously pure and holy wonderland.

In the peaceful land covered with gleaming snow and ice sculptures there are vivid palaces, animals and human figures which add vigor and vitality to the environment and attract tourists. During large-scale winter tourism events, such as the Changchun Ice and Snow Tourism Festival and the Changbai Mountain International Ice and Snow Carnival, dexterous craftsmen from all over the world come to create sculptures in the chilly weather. Lifting workers, carvers, electricians and lighting engineers ignore the cold and cooperate together to present glittering works with great labor. Although the sculptures can only last a maximum of three months, worldwide engravers strive to take part in the competition with enthusiasm.
