Known for its numerous cliffs and narrow, winding hill paths, Sichuan Province was once inaccessible. However, the modern invention of airplanes ended that isolation and planes flying over mountains and gorges now deliver people to the province swiftly and comfortably.

Sichuan Province built a multitude of airports around its geographically complex cities and scenic tourist attractions to facilitate travelling.

One of these airports, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, is among the four air transport hubs in China and the busiest one in the country’s middle and western region. The others in Sichuan Province are the Dazhou Airport in eastern Sichuan, Luzhou Airport in Southeastern Sichuan and Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport in the northwestern Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.
