The mountainous Sichuan Province has many railways. It features China's first electric railway -- Baoji-Chengdu Railway -- that travels from Baoji, Shaanxi to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.
It is also home to the Dazhou-Chengdu Railway, Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and the Chengdu-Kunming Railway. The Neijiang-Kunming Railway connects to the Hunan, Guizhou and quasi-high-speed Yunnan, Suining-Chongqing Railway. It also connects to the Dazhou-Wanxian Railway, which winds through complicated geographic conditions from Sichuan to Chongqing.
The province is also building a number of new high-speed railways to cut travel time to southwestern and southeastern China.
