As the summer vacation is around the corner, Dujiangyan City is ready to welcome tourists from both China and abroad. As a traditional summer tourist resort, the city is not only famous for the world cultural heritage site, the Dujiang Weir, but also for the pandas’ habitat, which is listed as one of the world’s natural heritage sites. The average temperature is 26.2℃ (79.1℉) in summer. Air and water quality rarely fails to meet the highest national standard. In addition, the coverage rate of forests and planting respectively reaches 59.6% and 43% in Dujiangyan City.
According to the city’s relevant departments, many activities will be held from June to August to help the tourists spend the summer vacation more interestingly. In June, tourists will have the opportunity to experience Indian yoga, enjoy Chinese pastoral poetry, appreciate innovative handiworks involving pandas, have a drafting race and taste beer at the Dujiangyan-Munich Oktoberfest.
July will start with a music week and a traveling festival in which tourists can learn about Li Bing, an ancient Chinese administrator and engineer renowned for his proposal and design of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Later, a Tai chi dance race and an international camping festival will be held.
Perhaps August is the most romantic time for the tourists with their loved ones as the city is scheduled to hold a ceremony to mark the Qixi Festival, also known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day. But sports enthusiasts are more likely to take interest in the later orienting race. However, if neither of the two activities arouses interest, the 5th Global Travel E-commerce Conference may probably be a good choice.
