Moxi Old Town in Luding County, Sichuan is the gateway to Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park. About 300 km away from Chengdu, the town is surrounded by river and mountain on three sides, and inhabited by Han, Yi and Tibetan people. A catholic church built in 1918 by French missionaries is the highlight of the town. Chairman Mao Zedong stayed in the church when the Red Army called the famous Moxi Meeting during the Long March in 1935. The town’s old streets are lined with ancient residential buildings dating back to late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).[Photo provided to China.org.cn]
