A float themed on Chengdu, the capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, attracted the eyes of many spectators at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, the United States, Nov. 24, 2016.
The float, jointly made by the Sino-American Friendship Association (SAFA), Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration and Macy's, features Chengdu's special elements, such as the giant panda, Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mountain, Jinsha Site, the Three Kingdoms culture and face-changing performance of Sichuan Opera.
"We hope that we can showcase to the world the charm of Chengdu as an international tourism destination," said Duo Yang Na Mu, director of Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration.
She noted that Chengdu staged a series of publicity activities on the city's cultural tourism during the grand annual parade, aiming to expand its market in the United States.
During the first ten months of 2016, Chengdu received a total of 2.39 million inbound tourists, up 16.9 percent year on year. The number of inbound tourists in the whole year is expected to reach 2.7 million, up 17.4 percent.
Chengdu is quickly becoming an international top destination in recent years.
