Rural tourism festival opens in Longchang

The Eighth Sichuan Rural Cultural Tourism Festival (Summer) opened in Longchang County, Neijiang City Thursday.

Many local people attended the opening ceremony in their holiday best.

The festival, sponsored by the local government of Neijiang and a number of provincial-level government agencies, is expected to promote innovation in rural tourism products, advocate low-carbon travel and raise the level of rural tourism development.

Colorful activities have been organized for the event, including dragon dancing, exhibition of featured tourism commodities, photography exhibition and food tasting. Over 10,000 tourists attended the festival and visited a number of local attractions.

In 2016, rural tourism brought 4.26 million visitors to Longchang, generating 1.69 billion yuan of revenue for the county.
