Chengdu is a place where people can enjoy flowers all year round. In early summer, Chinese rose, lavender and azalea in its surrounding scenic areas are in full blossom.

Chengdu has earmarked 200 million yuan for building and upgrading 14 bases for flower appreciation this year. Completion of all bases is scheduled for end-September.

In the 6,500-mu Tianfu Flower Valley, one of the bases, there are colorful Chinese roses and hydrangeas and patches of purple flowers. Cedars and maples are grown alternately along the plank road. A sea of flowers spanning 800 mu are quite spectacular.

Chengdu adopted a document on developing flower appreciation tourism in 2015, which set the goal of making Chengdu a famous domestic and international destination for enjoying flowers within three to five years.
