A total of 37,825 tourists swam into Qingcheng Mountain-Dujiangyan Scenic Area in Sichuan on May 28, the first day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival, 31 percent more than last year.

Of the arrivals, the number of inward tourists saw a significant rise to 23,000 thanks to the scenic area’s overseas marketing efforts both on its own and in cooperation with Sichuan’s other famous attractions such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Emei Mountain and Leshan Mountain.

The efforts, ranging from expanding source market of tourists to sharing resources, have greatly helped to build Dujiangyan into an international tourist center.

Dujiangyan is a hub along the golden tour line of Jiuzhai and Huanglong-Chengdu, Dujiangyan, and Qingcheng Mountain-Leshan Mountain and Emei Mountain and is a starting point of China’s most beautiful golden tourism corridor.

Dujiangyan’s favorable geographical position contributes to the city’s vibrant tourism market. It is within the Greater Chengdu economic circle which boasts a population of 16 million and plays its vital role along the Western Sichuan golden tourism line.

Since the beginning of this year, the Qingcheng Mountain and Dujiangyan Scenic Area has strengthened efforts to woo inbound tourists. It took advantage of measures adopted by tourism authorities of Sichuan and Chengdu to conduct multi-tiered and all-round marketing which includes opening experience stores in source markets and taking part in high-end forums.

It has furthermore rolled out a series of mid-to-high-end tailored tourism products to meet market demand.
