As the summer vacation approaches, air passenger traffic is expected to peak, prompting airlines around the country to come up with better ways to handle the surge.
Sichuan Airlines started to offer kiosk check-in service for six of its international lines at Sichuan Shuangliu International Airport from June 30, becoming the first airlines to offer the service in southwest China.
The int’l lines involved link Chengdu with Melbourne, Bangkok, Phuket, Chiengmai, Krabi and Nha Trang respectively.
Kiosk check-in with a passport, including choosing a seat and printing the boarding pass is available fifty minutes to three hours before the scheduled departure.
There are two check-in options for individuals and families respectively.
The whole process takes only some thirty seconds.
For baggage check, passengers still need to use the counter check-in service.
Airlines across China are vigorously promoting kiosk check-in, as part of their efforts to maximize passenger’s travel experience by making their services more efficient and convenient.
Sichuan Airlines also has plans to offer online check-in service for its international flights.
