The Fengming Airport in Zigong City, Sichuan Province has got the greenlight to open four routes for general aviation.

Operation of the routes to Mianyang, Xinjin, Guanghan and Suining respectively is expected to start next month.

Construction of the Fengming Airport began on December 25, 2015. It is the first general aviation airport ratified by Sichuan Provincial People Government since the power of ratification was delegated to it from the State Council.

With an investment of 590 million yuan, the airport is expected to handle a passenger traffic of 74,000 on 42,667 flights by 2025.

So far, a 1.2-km-long runway, the main part of the airport, has been completed and cleared, and the main bodies of the tarmac, terminal and airport tower have also been completed, meaning the airport is now able to operate a flight.
