The theory of scientific socialism and its centennial practice

Scientific socialism is both an essential part of Marxism and a logical footing of the system of Marxist ideology. Tides of utopian socialism emerged prior to the birth of Marxism. However, it was Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, guided by a scientific outlook and methodology, who critically scrutinized capitalism and clarified how the irreversible course of socialism would replace it. Therefore, their theories have come to form systematic scientific socialism.
With scientific socialism as a watershed separating philosophy from utopian thinking, the success of the October Revolution in 1917 in Russia brought the theory into reality. The Communist Party of Russia led by Vladimir Lenin and guided by Marxism made a historic endeavor to build a socialist society on the vast territory of Russia and influenced many other countries such as China, making scientific socialism a worldwide practice. Through hardworking and tireless efforts over a long period of time, the socialist revolution and development in countries such as the former Soviet Union and China, to name but a few, have made considerable achievements and gained their innumerable experiences. However, there were also twists and turns during the vicissitudes of this historic river. Because of both internal and external factors, the former Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990s, resulting in an abyss of the socialist movement worldwide.
Though facing severe challenges and substantial pressure, the Chinese communists have by no means been intimidated. Conforming to the guidelines of emancipating minds and seeking truth from practice, the Chinese communists have analyzed and reviewed the problematic socialist practices with scientific approaches of Marxism and resolved to continue building socialism with distinctive Chinese features. With nearly 40 years of reform and opening up, we have made outstanding achievements in multiple sectors, enabling "China Path" to be a new buzzword that has attracted worldwide attention. The endeavor of socialism with distinctive Chinese features has therefore cemented faith and boosted confidence among people in scientific socialism.
China's socialism has at this time come into a new phase. We will stay true to the Party's founding mission while facing new challenges and shouldering new obligations. We'll adhere to the fundamental principles of scientific socialism and bear in mind Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and the theoretical system of socialism with distinctive Chinese features. We will spare no effort in studying the essence of President Xi Jinping's series of important speeches as well as his new theories, thoughts and strategies regarding state governance. Thus, we will press ahead with the cause of Chinese socialism and contribute more Chinese wisdom to the theories and practices of scientific socialism.
