Shenzhen, located in the southern part of Guangdong Province and on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta, is a major city in the province. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, Shenzhen has a distinct geographical advantage when it comes to economic development and in 1980, China’s first Special Economic Zone was built there. Since then, Shenzhen has become one of the most successful SEZs due to its rapid economic growth.
