Xiamen (opening-up index: 73.26)

Located on China’s southeast coast, Xiamen is a one of the Fujian Province’s—and China’s—leading cities. In keeping with its status as a major seaport since ancient times, Xiamen has excellent road, rail, air and port infrastructure and boasts a wide gulf with deep water which is not afflicted by either freezing or the cloying effects of silt. As one of the forerunners of China’s special economic zones, the city has a diverse and well-developed economy.
