Ningbo (opening-up index: 66.81)

Lying in the east of Zhejiang Province, the seaport city of Ningbo sits at the mid-point of the Chinese coastline, towards the south of the Yangtze Delta. Lying south of Hangzhou Bay and facing the East China Sea to the east, the city has long been an important hub for foreign trade. Ningbo was also one of 14 coastal cities earmarked to open to the outside world in 1984.
