The Eighth Chengdu Sage of Poetry Cultural Festival opened on Jan. 22 to commemorate Du Fu (712–770 AD), a famous Chinese poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) at Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Du is known as the "Sage of Poetry."
