Cultural event held to mark Du Fu's life and works

The Eighth Chengdu Sage of Poetry Cultural Festival opened on Jan. 22 to commemorate Du Fu (712–770 AD), a famous Chinese poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) at Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Du is known as the "Sage of Poetry." Renri, believed to be the day on which human beings were created, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the 7th day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar. [File photo]
