Working as a primetime anchorman for 20 years, Luo was well-known for his delivery of the news on the first channel of Chinese Central Television. The Sichuan native started his career in broadcast after graduating from Communication University of China in 1983. He was favored by many Chinese people for his gentle voice and he received the lifetime Golden Microphone Award. He died of lymphoma on June 5, 2009, at the age of 48.
