The Hong Kong International Film Festival was founded in 1977 and is non-competitive. It is usually held in mid-March or early April in Hong Kong. The festival is committed to discovering new talent and is a major platform for the presentation of films from China and Asia.

The 2015 HKIFF was held from March 23 to April 6 and opened with the film "Murmur of the Hearts (Nian nian)," directed by highly respected director and actress Sylvia Chang.
