Self-driving tours around Sichuan – Jiuzhai Loop

Editor’s note: Self-driving tours have been gaining popularity among Chinese tourists in recent years. One of the popular places for self-driving tours in China is Sichuan, as the province boasts rich tourism resources. China.org.cn has compiled information about some of the best routes for self-driving tours in Sichuan. Here are one of them:

The Jiuzhai Loop (1300 kilometers)

This is a classic tourist route featuring unmatched and imposing plateau sceneries, ranging from red leaves, colorful forests, grasslands, wetlands to lakes. Travelers can also experience unique Tibetan and Qiang culture.

Best time for the tour: May to November. September and October are good for watching red leaves. Mid-to-end of October is the time when Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong have their most splendid sceneries.

Day 1: Chengdu-Dujiangyan

Dujiangyan

Itinerary: Set out from Chengdu and take the Chengdu-Dujiangyan Highway. It takes less than one hour to arrive at Dujiangyan City.
