Yantai Economic and Technology Development Area



Established in 1984, Yantai Economic & Technology Development Area (YEDA) is one of the 14 first national-level development zones in the country. Located beside the Yellow Sea, YEDA covers a planned area of 220 square kilometers, with a population of 400,000.

In additional to its core strengths in machinery manufacturing and information technology, YEDA has a number of other industries including automobile and component parts, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, new materials and new photoelectricity.

A great number of foreign enterprises from the U.S., Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Germany, the U.K., Canada, New Zealand and other countries and regions have made investments in YEDA. Well-known companies located in the area include General Electric, Henkel and Phelps Dodge.
