RBS to Acquire 10% of BOC
The Bank of China (BOC) announced yesterday that the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) will acquire a 10 percent stake in it for US$3.1 billion, subject to government and regulatory approval.
Museum Displays Politicians' Gifts

China and the United States started talks on a comprehensive textile trade agreement in San Francisco yesterday, aiming to solve the deadlock. In another development, some European Union (EU) countries, including Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, are pressing the European Commission to relax its quotas on China's textile and apparel products.

Probe into Coal Mine Flooding Continues
One more body of a miner was recovered yesterday from the Daxing Coal Mine in Xingning, Guangdong and at least 121 others still remain trapped underground. Meanwhile, a number of local officials were reportedly found to have had close personal connections with the mine's owner during an ongoing investigation into the accident. The owner of the mine has been put under house arrest.

Sanvu Lands in S. China, 6 Trapped Fishermen Rescued
The tropical storm Sanvu, the 10th one hitting China this year, slapped the Shantou City, South China's Guangdong Province at Saturday noon with strong wind and rainstorm, and moved northwestward. Six fishermen who got stranded at sea off the province for about 12 hours were successfully rescued by local police.
IPR Campaign Counts Successes
Xinhua reported last Monday that the summer IPR campaign launched on June 19 has been successful, with many pirated goods seized, outlets closed or penalized and public awareness levels raised. Local initiatives across the country have reportedly played a key role.
