68th Anniversary of 'July 7 Incident' Marked
Commemorations were held throughout China yesterday to mark the anniversary of the "July 7 incident" that sparked Japan's all-out invasion in 1937. Events included a new exhibition at Beijing's Lugouqiao, or Marco Polo Bridge, the site of the historical event.
China Condemns Terrorist Attacks in London
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu Jianchao said China opposes terrorism in any form after the bomb attacks in London yesterday. "Anyone who launches terrorist attacks and causes civilian casualties should be resolutely condemned, regardless of his or her purpose."
Hu Calls for 'Open and Just' World Trade
At the outreach session of the G8 summit with leaders of the five major developing countries, President Hu Jintao called on developed countries to give more consideration to developing countries and to back up their efforts to foster "open and just" world trade.
Largest Maritime Rescue Drill Held in Shanghai
A rescue and search exercise is being held in Shanghai today, the largest held in China during peacetime. It aims to improve rescue forces' efficiency and international maritime security cooperation.

The statement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao after their talks in Moscow.
HK Celebrates 8th Anniversary of Reunification
About 30,000 people took to the streets in Hong Kong Friday to celebrate the eighth anniversary of its reunification with the mainland. Chief Executive Donald Tsang said Hong Kong must continue to build on the support of the mainland and the edge it enjoys as a global business hub if it is to sustain economic growth.
