First China-Russia Military Exercises Conclude
The first China-Russia joint military exercises ended in Weifang in east China's Shandong Province, Thursday after successful maneuvers of 10,000 troops from the Russian and Chinese navy, air force, army and paratroops.

2nd Round FTA Talks with Australia End
Australia and China ended their second round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks in Beijing yesterday. The Ministry of Commerce said they were helpful in improving understanding of each other's trade mechanisms, and that a third round is expected by the end of October.
Board of PetroKazakhstan Approves CNPC's Offer
The Board of Directors of PetroKazakhstan Inc. has approved the proposed acquisition offer of US$4.18 billion by China's largest oil producer China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), according to sources with CNPC yesterday. The offer is expected to expire in October. If the transaction is successful, it would be the biggest overseas acquisition made by a Chinese company.
